Great hiking shirts!
I have a hunch I’ve owned more Air Strip solid-color long sleeve shirts of the current version than any other person: sixteen (16). And only one of them disappointed me. It was in the ponderosa color that another reviewer panned because of fading, which was also my problem.
Twelve (12) of the fifteen (15) that I still own and love are in dark or deep colors. I hike at least three times a week (8 to 15 miles and 1500 to 5300 feet of elevation gain), and I need such colors to not show soiling in the shoulder-strap area. For sun protection and for incidental trail-clearing, I wear gloves, which quickly become dirty because of the branches, limbs, and small trees that I toss off trails. When I rest my hands by placing my thumbs under the shoulder straps of my pack, the insides of the straps become soiled. Dark and deep colors don’t show that soil. I now own and love three Air Strips in deep hues of blue (varsity, galaxy, and Prussian), four in hues of green (algae, avocado, hops, and deep forest), one gray shirt (dark pebble), one brown shirt (cinder), a rust shirt (sienna), a red shirt (brick), and a burgundy shirt (baroque). I like to think the 50 individuals on the distribution list for weekday and Saturday hikes that I lead appreciate seeing me and my monotone personality show up in a different colored shirt every twelve hikes.
I also love my Air Strips for the sun collar and the lightweight fabric because I wear a long sleeve tee shirt underneath for additional sun protection, even on the hottest of North Carolina days. On the ascents that begin many of my hikes, the tee shirt quickly becomes sweat-soaked; and I’m cooler than my hiking companions wearing light short sleeves or tank tops.
In addition, the seams and the buttons of my Air Strips have never failed.
I’m a committed Air Strip wearer.

Very comfortable and durable!
I bought two more of these shirts after getting one as a gift. They're comfortable and seem to hold up well. They're great for traveling, especially by plane, as you can layer for the inevitable temperature variances of planes and airports. And, they're stylish! So, it's a win all around.

Great Shirt for Hot Weather
Decided to pick up a couple more Air Strip L/S shirts since we’re in the middle of a brutally hot summer. I have one that I’ve loved for years and years, and it still looks like new. Love the fact that it’s breathable and roomy.

Better fit for average guys
I have a batch of Air Strip shirts from around 2014. They were great, but the fit was always off. I'm 6'2" 180. The medium size was a bit too short, occasionally creeping up above the waist belt and showing off some belly. I was swimming in a large. The new slim design of the L/S in medium is about an inch longer than before, and now it's perfect. The pockets seem to be the exact same size as my old shirt, and the fabric mix is the same (73% nylon/27% polyester).
It seemed like the old shirts were made for big fellas, so I can see why they'd be upset. For me, it's a great improvement.

NOT the Airstrip of olde......
I check back to the ExOfficio site from time to time hoping that they have brought back the ORIGINAL Airstrip. I've returned their knock-off, not knowing that they had changed the design. I agree with the other men on their reviews, and I'd like to add that my two original shirts were 55% Cotton and 45% Nylon. The new (and NOT improved) style has NO cotton in it. Sweat and water does not dry off the new versions, because the synthetic materials do not absorb moisture. The newer shirts look great but are not practical if you are going to actually USE them in the outdoors. If you wear construction boots-and have never lifted a hammer. If you wear cowboy boots and have never ridden a horse, then the NEW version of the Airstrip will be perfect for you. Sorry to see the old model go.

terrible product - seams pucker -needs ironing after washing - I'm very disappointed
have two old Air Strips that I love, seams don't pucker, collar lies correctly, nice material, is ready to wear after washing-- these are a much better quality/value than my recent Air Strip shirt purchase

My go-to shirt!
I love everything about this shirt from the style to the comfort. It's my go-to shirt for everything. Fishing, hiking, travel, church, board meetings! (I'm not a suit and tie man, so this one is dressy enough without a tie for dressy occasions, but relaxed enough for activities. I also love the color choices and own six colors of this shirt. Works winter and summer for me.

Comfortable shirt!
I have this shirt in a lighter color and just ordered another one. So far this is my favorite Ex Officio shirt out of several I own. It is nice and roomy and that's what I need since I have a 48 inch chest and big biceps. I bought an XL and it fits just right. My wife loved the Air Strip as well and bought a size small which is her favorite hiking shirt now since it's nice and lightweight and comfortable.

Somewhat Dissappointing
I loved the older style of this shirt. I think like most reviewers we prefer these shirts to be stylish AND functional, yet I lean more or the side of functionality. This shirt is more of a slim cut than its predecessor. If you are active you will notice the loss of functionality and the cut actually feels like it slows down my movements when I need to get to something. It is a good shirt, but no longer an exceptional shirt.

Epitome of premium quality!
ExOfficio Men's Air Strip long sleeve shirts are the epitome of wilderness travel fashion whether on or off the trail. I have covered more than seventy countries from developed nations, third world and emerging states and it is the ExOfficio Men's Air Strip long sleeve shirts I use whether on or off trails. This shirt is rugged, durable and extremely long lasting when used off-trail, even when bushwhacking through thorns that otherwise would rip normal shirts to shreds. The front cargo pockets are extremely functional and the zipper security pocket inside one front cargo pocket provides added safety for carrying cash and credit cards. The Air Strip shirt is technical apparel at its finest in fashion and function. The three position sun collar is a life saver if you do not have a neck gator available for wear in the sun. The shirt itself is rated UPF 30+ and with side and back vents that open for air circulation one never feels the need to strip the shirt as a redundant layer. I always purchase the long sleeve version because it has roll-up sleeve tabs for turning the long sleeve quickly into short sleeve. I use the utility tab for hanging my sunglasses instead of for fly-fishing, which I do not do. The pen slot is neat and functional, but my one complaint would be for this slot to be larger to accommodate thicker writing pens, or even a small pen-light since many room hallways and rooms themselves in third world countries afford little lighting for finding dropped items or sliding room door keys into proper slots. These shirts come in a multiple variety of delicious colors, dry quickly after being rain soak and are light to wear. I do recommend strongly, though, that ExOfficio consider adding an inside collar loop for hanging the shirts on hooks in cabin or lodging rooms. The ExOfficio Men's Air Strip long sleeve shirts definitely are 5 stars rated.

color bleeds
This shirt (Ponderosa, air strip, Long-sleeve) bled its colors and continues to do so after 3 washings - all in cold water without any fabric softeners or bleach. Results were discoloration on other clothes washed with it. Now, we must wash this shirt separately. Not happy.

Love'm
Have bought in the past, will buy in the future. Why? Quality. Practical Construction. Works for me. I wear them traveling because the pocket structure allows all those things you need, close at hand, to be...close at hand, without having to to unbuckle the seat-belt etc. I also am a photographer and love the shirt for the pocket structure, for all those "things" for camera work. I was just in Death Valley and the materials and durability were very much part of my choice for this and other Exofficio products. And that is why I...Love'm.

Poor fit
I have used the airstrip shirt for fishing, sightseeing and traveling throughout the world for years and the new fit does not give the comfort and allowable movement that made this shirt famous. You need to bring back the unrestricted, lose fit that made this shirt a staple in every seasoned travelers wardrobe. Your brief description of updating should not be geared to a slim fitting shirt for style. For those that outings are styled for the coffee shops there should be other alternatives. This shirt is a premier workhorse on and off the road that requires a lose fit that is functional for the adventure traveler and the sportsman.

best tech shirt made
Best tech shirt made--period.. I fly fish 100+ days a year.. I hike and backpack.. I write, review products, rep products, and design flies for a living.. I owned a fly shop for 15 years and sold Simms, ExOfficio, Columbia, Redington, and a few other shirts. I have been given or bought shirts from Orvis, Patagonia, etc. None stands the test of time like the Air Strip has.. And none performs better on the water and in the woods..

Updated Version Sucks
Dear Exofficio,
I wanted to provide some customer feedback on your new “Updated” Air Strip shirt. I have worn the Air Strip shirt for many years and was very pleased with the technical features. I recently purchased two new Air Strip shirts and discovered that you had made changes in the design. Your new version is lacking in the front pockets. The old version allowed me to carry significantly more items because the pocket was billowed and wider. The new version limits the items that I can carry and that is a significant issue.
I don’t know “who” suggested these updates but I can tell you that it wasn’t your customers. The Air Strip shirt is a fashionable shirt but it must contain the functional elements for outdoor usage.
Recommendation: I suggest that you produce the old version of the Air Strip shirt as well as continue to produce the new “updated” version. This will allow your customers to decide if they really want the “slimmer fit” and “smaller front pockets.” I believe that you will be surprised to find that customer were very happy with the old version.
Like the saying goes, “Don’t fix what is not broken.”
My additional comments:
The old shirt had a "single" Velcro closure on the front pockets that was easy to open/close. The updated shirt has "two" Velcro closures that are difficult to open with one hand. As stated above, the old front pockets were much larger, were bellowed, and could carry much more items.
The old shirts had a durable fabric that was color fast and could take much abuse. The updated shirt is subject to fading, especially when a fabric cleaner (OxiClean spray) is used before washing. I have 6 old shirts that I have worn for almost 5 years with "no fading." I have 2 updated shirts that were only two months old and experienced significant fading.
The old shirts had lots of room in the shoulder area for turning, bending, etc. The updated shirt with the "slim" design causes restrictions in movement.
I do NOT recommend this shirt for anyone who really needs the technical features of the original Air Strip shirt.

Great update!
I have several AirStrip shirts. I much prefer the updated version with the more trim fit. These shirts have numerous features which make them my preferred shirt for travel to remote locations. ExOfficio products are great for world travel. The nylon material is easily cleaned and dries quickly. Great product.

"Updated" disappointment
I am a 15 year customer, one with every exo color in my closet. The fabric blend in this shirt is terrific, it's lightweight, without wrinkles and breathable. And they have quit sewing the top button with green thread. However, the new "updated" streamlined size is a disappointment, they should have left it alone and roomier for physical activity.

Simplify
This could be a better shirt if it was simplified. It is vastly over designed. The side vents are unnecessary and the back vent is questionable. The collar needs only the snaps, nothing else.
Simplify the shirt and lower the price.
