Description

Modern, clean styling and durable, abrasion-resistant fabric will keep you comfortable and looking good, whether hiking an experienced trail or relaxing back at camp. Its UPF-50 rating provides protection from the sun's dangerous rays. When it gets too hot, roll up the legs and attach the snap tabs to keep them firmly in place. Their bug-blocking Insect Shield® treatment gives you the invisible, odorless protection of Permethrin and lasts up to 70 washes.

Considering getting an additio
I love the Vianna shorts — bought 4 pairs last year! — and am just as pleased with the pants. Any stains wash out easily by hand or machine, and the fabric can either air dry or go in the dryer. Love these!

Best for insect/sun protection
For years I've routinely sprayed my clothing with permethrin, which worked quite well. But re-treatment is required every 2-3 washings (the product ways 6 washings, but not true). For the money spent on permethrin refills, it was worth getting these BugsAway pants. When others were being bitten by black flies, mosquitoes or horseflies, I watched them buzz around & fly away without settling. The 50 UPF & nylon fabric are big plusses, especially for traveling. The reason for not giving 5 stars: 1) The hips fit fine, but the waistband was 2" too big & had to be altered; 2) The stretchy fabric is really nice for range of motion like scrambling over boulders or steep pitches requiring a long stride; however, when the fabric gets damp with sweat, it seems to lose its elasticity. Even tho the waistband was altered, the pants stretched out & slide down. I'll need to use a belt to keep them in place.

Needs Drawstring!
Bought two pairs--one petite and one regular length. Bought fit well and I liked both lengths. However, a drawstring would make these pants perfect. The waist is too big. I'm handy with a sewing machine, so I'm going to add a drawstring myself. Otherwise I would have to send them both back. Gave 4 stars for lack of adjustable waist.

Nice pants - hard to wear belt
Pants have a flattering cut and provide sufficient stretch for hiking. We live in a highly tick infested area and I have not yet seen a tick on the pants. Taking off one star because the belt loops are extremely narrow and required purchasing a special belt to use with the pants.

Great hiking pants.
Love these pants, I have two pair. They are lightweight, comfortable and durable and decent looking. I have put many miles on my first pair and they still look as good as new. They are light weight for warm weather so if it is cold I wear a pair of woollies underneath. They did have to get one size smaller than I usually wear because they run a little big. My only complaint is that they don't come in more colors. I would love a light colored pair.

Size 12 measurements.
I like these pants. The measurements for woman's size 12 are: waist=36, rise=14, length from waist=43. They are very light weight so not too hot to wear in warm weather. This pair is a bit baggy on me which is perfect also for wearing as an outer layer to prevent ticks in cool weather. I've found zero ticks on me since wearing these.

It was suggested to order a size smaller than normally worn due to the pants being sized bigger. This did not work for me as they were too small. It may be the way the pants are sized...for very small framed women. The material seems very well made and cool. I did not reorder.

Better than expected
It’s light weight and a very comfortable fit. I thought they are too long at first (I am 5’3”), but I changed my mind after I actually wore them for camping. They cover my ankles when I wear my sneakers and give both of my legs “full” protection from mosquitoes or no-see-ums.

Vianna pants, love them!
I have two pairs of these pants. They are perfect for working out in the park, light weight so they maybe worn in very hot weather. They keep the bugs away and have just enough stretch to be able to move. I have received many compliments on them. They fit like “mom jeans” but, they do the job keeping me from being bitten by mosquitoes and no-see’ems.

Versatile and protective
Great pants! I wear these on our farm in the summer - they protect me from ticks & other insects, and they're just loose enough to allow you to move but not overly baggy. The convertible legs are great too. Mostly I feel safe from ticks! I liked them so well I bought a second pair.

Perfect for Safari & Garden
I would highly recommend these to family and friends. I would say they are attractive, comfortable and that the light fabric is tough, dries fast and keeps you cooler than jeans. You should know that the pants run large. Buy one or even two sizes smaller than your usual size. When you first put them on they might feel just right, but within 30-60 minutes they relax and you'll be pulling them up at the waist. The pants could be improved by adding more pockets. (The pocket issue is the reason for 4 stars.)
I bought two pairs to wear on a trip to Southern Africa. They were a good choice, but as it turned out, we didn't encounter many mosquitoes, so I didn't need the bugs-away feature. However, I wear them all the time while gardening. The pants aren't only for a big trip, they are great for everyday wear.
Before leaving for Africa we were warned about the serious diseases mosquitos spread. We took high percentage Deet insect repellent and had yellow fever vaccinations and anti-malarial medication.
In addition, I took insect repellant clothing. The fact is, I'm a mosquito magnet. (They bypass my husband and swarm around me.). I chose the ExOfficio BugsAway Vianna Pants because of good reviews and because my husband really likes the brand.
The mosquitos didn't bother me in Africa. I'm not sure this proves that the bugs-away feature works because it was very dry and there weren't many mosquitos around.
However, I've been wearing them while gardening since I got home. The mosquitos blanket the garden and shady places. They are vicious and hungry in Michigan! The pants are helping me very much and I'm glad I got them!!

I bought a pair of these for my Mom
Who has a dog to keep ticks away and mosquitoes. I have a pair for myself for when Im out in the summer and walking with my Mom’s dog and with my friend’s dogs.
