Soooo sad and disappointed
Another distraught longtime devotee of the original Hipkinis... I ordered 10 of these to replace my worn stash of undies, but I'll be returning them all. I'm so sad that the originals don't exist anymore because these are just not the same. The waist band is tighter and less comfortable. The material is different and thinner and not as good as the original. The leg bands are also thinner and less comfortable -they dig into your legs and also don't hold as well, so they ride up. The original hipkinis were literally PERFECT - the only underwear I have ever had that actually covered my whole butt and didn't ride up, and the elastic and original material was perfect. PLEASE BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL HIPKINIS!!!

Not anything like the original
I LOVED the original Hipkini. I have 2 and needed some new underwear so I decided to splurge and stock up on the Exofficio Hipkini, just to find out they no longer make it. I decided to try these since they are supposed to be the replacement for the Hipkini but these are nothing like them. They are completely different shape, having them sit lower on your hip and not covering your bum all the way. This makes them ride up, while the Hipkini always stayed in place. Also, the waist band is no longer the nice satin that that it used to be; it's now some other sort of elastic fabric. Because of this, even though the waist band is the same size, it makes an indentation on my hips. In addition, the waist band does not dry as fast which makes it less convenient when taking backpacking. The black underwear in the photo is the original Hipkini while the nude underwear is this new 2.0 Hipster. If you are looking for the Hipkini style, don't buy these! Find some other brand. It's what I'm looking at doing. Unfortunately, I already took the tags off and washed these so I'm stuck with them.

Granny
Was hoping these might be a little cute. Sorry but I like my panties to feel feminine at least a little. They’re kinda granny. Comfy though. again I like the idea just not the style.

Waistband is horribly tight
Have the first version, and they're my favorite undies. I don't know why these companies feel the need to "improve" their products and in turn make them worse. I wear in XS in the first version, so I ordered XS 2.0. The waistband is completely different, all elastic instead of fabric, and it is TIGHT. They give me the world's worst muffin top all the way around. My jeans feel loose at the waist because the waistband of the underwear are so tight. Unfortunately I bought four pairs. Maybe if I lose 20 lbs one day, they'll fit.

Not too old to enjoy jazzy
Love the pattern, love the fit. I have been a fan of Ex Officio hipster briefs for years, first as a traveler and now for everyday wear.

Why ruin a great product?
You see it in products everywhere: a great thing ruined. Like others have mentioned here, I’ve had my old ex officios for years - thin waistband, classic waffle material, synthetic yet non-irritatant and breathable… you could hardly feel them on. Great for wearing with bike shorts even though you’re not meant to wear underwear with bike shorts. And yes, panty liners - great for travel (both men AND women) to protect your pants from diarrhea before you make it to a toilet - don’t stick. Now, probably in the name of cost savings from the latest plastic fabric out of China, you are “just like all the genetics” underwear while still charging $25. I can tell because they’re irritating my skin and I’m sweating in them - this never happened before. You’ve probably been bought over by Hanes or Gap - what usually happens - based on your robotic “we are sorry for your experience” copy-pasted responses peppered all over from your lazy social media department. Why ruin a good thing? Oh right, you can’t make money if people have your product for years…well people are being born every year and if you’ve garnered such a solid reputation you’ll always have new customers pouring into the funnel. Very disappointing that yet another classic has gone to the wall.

Give n go womens panties
I did not know you changed the fabric. My panty liners do not adhere to the new fabric. I purchased two pairs and I cannot wear them nor has ExOfficio offered me a refund or anything.

Pantyliner does not stick!
Not bad. I like the old material better. The only real problem I have with these is a pantyliner/pad does not stick to the material at all.

far inferior to the old style
Why do companies change such a stellar item for the worse??? Been wearing these underwear the last few years as a replacement for Patagonia underwear that no longer fit well, and now Ex Officio has ruined theirs as well. The old ones were perfect - comfy, soft, no wedgies. As many other reviewers have said, the new version has a thick, somewhat scratchy elastic waistband that is nowhere near as comfy as the old soft fabric. AND the waistband is a good 2 inches longer from one end to the other (so 4 inches longer in circumference) than my old pairs of the same size. I guess it's needed because the new fabric has very little give to it and would be too constricting if it was a small as the old ones, which is disappointing. One thing I loved about the old underwear was that I literally could not feel them on thanks to the soft, thin fabric and no restrictive elastic. Please go back to the old version, Ex Officio!

Love my panties!
These have a better fit for slender hips. I still wish the quality was that of my first batch of panties purchased in 2019. However, I prefer these panties for everyday as well as traveling and hiking.

Best hiking underwear
These underwear are the best. I wore them the entire time in the Porcupine Mountains…they stay in place, dry quickly and fight odor. I am 5’5”, 130 lbs with a slender build and a small fit perfect.

Disappointed in the new design
The new band is incredibly restricting and the fit is not a hipster fit anymore. Much prefer the old version better!

Please bring back the original
The original sport mesh hipster was my
Holy grail underwear. Stayed put, didn’t dig in anywhere, a dream to backpack and travel with. I was so excited for the new version and it’s an absolute miss. Waistband is very tight, fit is just off completely. The actual material of the underwear seems light and breathable but the fit was so uncomfortable I’ll never know.

OK now, better before
I wish they hadn't updated this underwear. They now have a wide elastic band at the top that gives the appearance of "muffin top" instead of the comfortable band it had before, which worked perfectly well and appeared seamless. They still fit OK and a really like the fabric, so I guess I won't be returning.

Bring back the hipkini!!
These do not replace the hipkini design! They don’t offer the same amount of coverage in the back and will ride up during high levels of activity. I’m 5’7 and 135lbs…Pettit on top with full thighs and butt. I usually wear a medium (6/8) pant but size up in underwear for good coverage. The previous hipkini design are the only underwear that I have found that won’t wedge during high levels of activity….please bring them back! Unfortunately, I bought 5 pairs thinking they were just a new name for the same underwear.

Sports hipster
Added 3 pair for my Florida vacation and wished I had more! Cool, comfortable, perfect fit, no riding/shifting, perfect sizing. I also wore these under my running compression tights for a 10k. No panty line, very lightweight, and moisture wicking, So satisfied with this purchase.

No longer the same
Sizing and fit of material are way off. These used to be the best travel underwear but not any more. All four pairs i ordered don’t fit as they historically have.

Unhappy Undies
I do love Exofficio for Travel wear. That said the panties were a let down. This is the second type of Exofficio “active undies” I’ve purchased & im still unhappy. Several yrs ago I purchased my first pair & Loved them. ExO. has changed the make & now they give you definite “ panty line “….both at waist & thigh☹️. Very unhappy, really miss the old style

Bring Back The Old Style
The old style with the soft waistband and soft band around the legs was perfect. I recently bought new underwear, not realizing that the style had changed. I am so disappointed with the new style. Although the fabric is still great, the waistband is firmer and the elastic around the legs does not keep the underwear in place. This was my favorite brand and style of underwear for hiking, biking, and every day wear. Now, I will have to find another brand to replace it. Please bring back the old style.

I ordered several of this style and had to return them all. They were absolutely huge. Nothing comparable to other ExO styles. Very disappointed.
