ExOfficio Put Sun Protection in the Forefront of Innovation
Protecting from Harmful Rays for Carefree Adventuring

Tukwila, WA -- Research has shown that sun protective clothing is one of the most effective ways to protect against skin cancer. According to the National Cancer Institute, it's the most common form of cancer in the United States. More than one million cases of skin cancer are diagnosed annually with over 90 percent attributed to sun exposure.

Fortunately, travelers and outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy experiences in the sunshine have solutions to protect their skin against the sun's harmful UV rays.

ExOfficio, a pioneer in the development of sun protective adventure travel apparel, earned recognition by the Good Housekeeping Research Institute in 2008 for its Sun Guard 30+ technology. Built into ExOfficio apparel, this technology produces a garment with an Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) of more than 30, meaning that it blocks 98 percent of the sun's harmful rays. ExOfficio achieves its published UPF rating through fabric blend, construction, and finish, and tests for efficacy throughout the product development process.

"Sun protective clothing has been a major focus of our line since 1994," said, Steve Bendzak, General Manager of ExOfficio. "Our active customers, including adventure travel guides and outfitters who make their livelihoods in the outdoors, depend on ExOfficio to keep them comfortable and protected."

With protection in the forefront of development, ExOfficio offers over 60 styles of sun protective apparel and has launched a collection that's designed specifically for outdoor adventurers. Featured pieces include the men and women's AirStrip™ Lite and the Insect Shield® Baja (prices range $86 $89 SRP). The AirStrip features a three-position sun collar for neck protection, strategic ventilation, and roll-up sleeves. The Insect Sheild Baja repels insects, wicks moisture and provides ventilation. All styles protect from harmful rays up to UPF 30.
