ExOfficio Offers New Sun Protective Apparel for Spring/Summer 2008
Blocks Sun's Harmful Rays to Help Prevent against Skin Cancer

TUKWILA, WA -- Research has shown that sun protective clothing is one of the most effective ways to protect against skin cancer. According to the National Cancer Institute, it is the most common form of cancer in the United States. More than one million cases of skin cancer are diagnosed annually with over 90 percent attributed to sun exposure.

The Skin Cancer Foundation states that a person's risk for skin cancer doubles if they have had five or more sunburns. Additionally, one blistering sunburn during childhood more than doubles a person's chance of developing melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer, later in life.

Fortunately, travelers and outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy spending time in the sun have options to protect their skin against the sun's harmful UV rays.

ExOfficio, a pioneer in the development of sun protective adventure travel apparel, recently earned recognition by the Good Housekeeping Research Institute for its Sun Guard 30+ technology. Built into ExOfficio apparel, this technology produces a garment with an Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) of over 30, meaning that it blocks 98 percent of the sun's harmful rays. As a result of its effectiveness, Sun Guard has received The Skin Cancer Foundation's Seal of Recommendation.

"Sun protective clothing has been a major focus of our line since 1994," said, Steve Bendzak, general manager of ExOfficio. "Our active customers, including adventure travel guides and outfitters who make their livelihoods in the outdoors, depend on ExOfficio to keep them comfortable and protected."

ExOfficio offers over 60 styles of sun protective apparel in its Spring/Summer 2008 line. Featured pieces include the specifically designed men's and women's shirts in the Camper, Reef Runner Lite™, Air Strip™, and ExO Gill styles (price range $50 - $75 SRP). Each shirt features a unique venting system for maximum breathablity and comfort.

Sun protective pants include the Amphi™ Convertible ($70 SRP) and the Nomad ($55 SRP). These lightweight pants are Teflon® treated for water and stain resistance and feature ExOfficio's signature security pockets.
